Gates Risk Management

After spending 6 years as a Physical Education teacher David joined the Financial Services Industry in January 1986 with Provident Mutual. During his 10 years with the company he fulfilled various sales roles eventually managing the South East of England sales team based in Croydon, South London. David built his own client base by a series of referrals working in the individual and SME market.

In 1996, following the sale of Provident Mutual to General Accident, David moved into the independent sector setting up PMI Independent Financial Advisers with a 50% shareholding. The business had a number of Advisers covering the South of England and Wales and was a part of the UK’s largest licensee network DBS. David managed the sales team as well as advising across the full range of investment, retirement and protection planning. The focus of his advice was working with small business owners,  their families and employees. PMI was one of Mirror Group Newspapers Advisers of the year in 1998.

In 2002 David moved to set up his own boutique business, DCG Independent Advisers. He was now able to concentrate on providing advice to his clients.In January 2006 David made the huge decision to relocate to Melbourne from Southampton bringing with him his wife and three children. The business is still in existence, although running at a much smaller level.

Since being in Australia David has worked for two boutique companies, Future Life and AG Private Advisory, providing specialist risk insurance advice to individuals and small business. David has grown his client base by working alongside accountants and wealth advisers to provide advice, especially in the Business Succession area. The most notable of these was Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu with whom he has a number of Partners and staff as clients and also has been referred to a number of their clients.

Gates Risk Management was set up in September 20009 within the Securitor Licensee network where David hopes to continue to provide excellent advice to existing and new clients alike.

A keen sportsman, David coaches Under 16 Soccer at Brighton Soccer Club and for the last 2 seasons has been Assistant Coach at Brighton Cricket Club (Sub-District Level) until turning his attention to building and renovating a property.
